BOWLING GREEN, O.—Early childhood educators will learn new ways to energize teaching, build relationships with parents, and bring fun and movement into the classroom at the Early Childhood Conference at Bowling Green State University.

The conference is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in Olscamp Hall on the BGSU campus. The program, in its 33rd year, has a preschool through kindergarten focus and is sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, along with Continuing and Extended Education.

Connie Dow and Zak Morgan will give the keynote presentation, “A Taste of Music, A Dash of Dance: Spice up Your Early Childhood Environment with Music and Movement.” The presentation will help educators learn new and creative ways to bring music and dance into the classroom, inspiring the artist in every child.

Dow has taught movement to children for more than 35 years and is the author of “Dance, Turn, Hop, Learn! Enriching Movement Activities for Preschoolers.” Morgan has been described as a cross between Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. The Grammy Award-nominated children’s artist performs more than 200 shows in schools, libraries and theaters each year.

The conference offers 19 workshops on current trends for educators, including “Wonderful Web Sites for Literacy Learning,” “Providing Engaging Science Experiments that Encourage the Scientist Within” and “Effective Teaching Strategies for Challenging Behaviors.” Presenters include early childhood mental health consultants, professors, teachers and child development specialists from organizations such as BGSU, YWCA Child Care and the Children’s Resource Center.
