‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ comes to BGSU stage

BOWLING GREEN, O.—The Bowling Green State University Department of Theatre and Film presents the celebrated family favorite “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” Oct. 22-25. Performances will be in the Eva Marie Saint Theatre, located in University Hall. Evening performances Thursday through Saturday will begin at 8 p.m.; the Saturday and Sunday matinees will begin at 2 p.m.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is based on the comic strip “Peanuts®” by Charles M. Schulz, with book, music and lyrics by Clark M. Gesner. BGSU will produce the 1999 Broadway version, a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic; both versions are Drama Desk Award winners. The fast-paced and charming musical follows a typical day in the life of Charlie Brown and our other young, old friends. 

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”is directed by theatre doctoral student Macaela Carder of Warrensburg, Mo., and features a cast that includes musical theatre majors Elizabeth “Eli” Brickey of Pataskala and Jarrod Alexander of Toledo, both sophomores; Casey Toney of Toledo, Jackie Jerleckie of Goshen, Ind., and Scott Sanville of Columbus, all juniors, and Jimmy Wilson of West Milton, a senior.

Serving as understudies are musical theatre majors Neil Powell of Toledo and Nicole Navarre of Bowling Green, both sophomores, and senior Mark Swinerton of Medina.

Single tickets are $6 for children under 12, $5 for senior citizens 65 and older, and $12 for students and other adults. Group rates are available. Contact the BGSU theatre box office at 419-372-2719 for more information or to purchase tickets.
