BGSU trustees elect officers

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Michael Marsh of Bowling Green has been elected chair and John Harbal of Catawba Island, vice chair of the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees. In addition, Dr. Linda Dobb, BGSU executive vice president, has been re-elected secretary.

The election of officers was held during the board's June 22 meeting. All officers serve one-year terms.

The BGSU Board of Trustees is a group of 11 Ohio citizens appointed by the state governor to "do all things necessary for the proper maintenance and successful and continuous operation" of the University.

Marsh, a partner with the law firm of Marsh and Marsh Attorneys in Bowling Green and Grand Rapids, serves as attorney for the city of Bowling Green and the villages of Pemberville and Grand Rapids. A 1976 graduate of BGSU, he earned his law degree at Ohio State University in 1978.

Active in the community, he was named the 1999 Bowling Green Citizen of the Year. He is a past president of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, and president and co-founder of the Bowling Green Community Development Foundation. He also was instrumental in developing the BGSU Research/Enterprise Park, and is a member of the Presidents and Falcon clubs.

Harbal is president and CEO of Impact Products in Sylvania Township, a manufacturer and supplier to the janitorial and sanitary supply industry. A 1972 BGSU graduate, he has been an active member of the College of Business Administration Advisory Council and the Presidents and Falcon clubs at the University. He also has served as president of the Genoa Area Board of Education and helped establish the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
