Hundreds of fans turn out for Czisny send-off
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Nearly 500 fans, friends and family members gathered at the BGSU Ice Arena on Dec. 21 to celebrate Alissa Czisny's rise to international stature in figure skating and give the Bowling Green native a warm send-off to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
Like Bowling Green native son and Olympic Gold Medal winner Scott Hamilton, Czisny learned to skate at the BGSU Ice Arena. Her big dream is to again follow in Hamilton's footsteps, this time to the Winter Olympics.
With classes on break, the Bowling Green State University sophomore can now focus all her attention on the Jan. 7-15 national competition, where skating champions will be crowned in the categories of ladies, men's, pairs and dance.
Medal winners in St. Louis will go on to represent the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympic games in Turin, Italy.
