Women in Science day set for Nov. 11
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Seventh- and eighth-grade girls can discover exciting career opportunities during the 17th annual Women in Science, Math, Engineering and Technology day at Bowling Green State University.

Coordinated by Continuing & Extended Education, the program will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11 on the BGSU main campus. The event combines learning with motivational talks about career options in traditionally male-dominated scientific and technological fields. Participating students take part in hands-on experiments and creative problem solving, as well as have the chance to meet women with a passion for science, math, engineering or technology.

Nature's Nursery Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation Education will keynote the program. Dedicated to improving the well-being of northwest Ohio’s wildlife populations, Nature’s Nursery rehabilitates injured, ailing and orphaned wildlife, then releases them back into the wild.

In addition to working with animals, Nature’s Nursery offers educational sessions on such topics as wildlife conservation, animal behavior and bird species. Animals from the center will be part of the program’s presentations.

The fee to attend, which includes lunch, is $15 for students and $12 for accompanying adults. Scholarships are available through the generosity of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio.
