BGSU grants 49 faculty tenure and/or promotion BOWLING GREEN, O. -- The Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees granted tenure, promotion or both to 49 faculty
members at its May 7 meeting.
Eight faculty members were promoted to full professor, including Dr. Scott Highhouse, psychology; Dr. Wendy Manning, sociology;
Shawn Morin, art; Dr. Michael Staub, English; Dr. Nancy Merritt, marketing; Coleen Parmer, University Libraries (collections
and technical services); Dr. Bruce Moss, music education, and Dr. Larry Hatch, visual communication and technology education.
Promoted to associate professor and receiving tenure were 38 others. Among them were 18 faculty members from the College of
Arts and Sciences, including Dr. Joe Austin and Dr. Jeffrey Brown, both popular culture; Dr. Susan Brown, sociology; Dr. Felix
Castellano, chemistry; Dr. John Chen, Dr. Corneliu Hoffman and Dr. Tong Sun, all mathematics and statistics; Dr. Yiwei Chen,
Dr. Mary Hare and Dr. Dara Musher-Eizenman, all psychology; Dr. Liette Gidlow, history; Dr. Fenfang Hwu, Dr. Philip Peek and
Dr. Nathan Richardson, all romance languages; Dr. Andrew Layden, physics and astronomy; Dr. Eithne Luibheid, ethnic studies;
Bonnie Mitchell, art; and Dr. Daniel Wiegmann, biological sciences.
Receiving the same promotion and tenure from other colleges were Dr. Haithe Anderson and Dr. Alexander Sidorkin, both educational
foundations and inquiry; Dr. Cynthia Bertelsen, teaching and learning; Dr. Susan Huss, intervention services; Dr. Patrick
Pauken, educational administration and leadership studies; Dr. Raymond Schneider and Dr. Nancy Spencer, both human movement,
sport and leisure studies; Dr. Christine Genovese, natural and social sciences, BGSU Firelands; Dr. Kay Strong, applied sciences,
BGSU Firelands; Dr. Jeffrey Searl, communication disorders; Dr. Marian Williams, criminal justice; Colleen Boff, University
Libraries (library teaching and learning); Dr. Elaine Colprit, music education; Dr. Mikel Kuehn, musicology/composition/theory;
Kevin Schempf and Christopher Scholl, both music performance studies; Dr. David Border and Dr. Royce Ann Martin, both technology
systems, and Dr. Stan Guidera and Dr. Kathryn Hoff, both visual communication and technology education.
Another VCTE faculty member, Dr. Donna Trautman, was promoted to associate professor, while two other faculty members received
tenure-Dr. Louisa Ha, telecommunications, and Dr. Andreas Nicolaou, accounting and management information systems.
