BG’s Jarrett is Academic All-American BOWLING GREEN, O. – Craig Jarrett started his Bowling Green State University football career as a walk-on with a sub-.500
team. He’s ending it as the starting tight end for the Motor City Bowl-bound Falcons—and as BGSU football’s first Academic
All-American in 10 years.
During his time at Bowling Green, the Bellevue High School graduate has changed positions—from his natural fullback spot to
tight end—and missed the 2002 season with a knee injury. But the ups and downs of football haven’t carried over to the classroom,
where Jarrett, a senior team captain, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while majoring in biology and chemistry. That
performance has earned him second-team Academic All-American status. The last Falcon so honored was defensive lineman Bob
Dudley, both in 1992 and 1993.
Jarrett, who caught a three-yard touchdown pass in the Mid-American Conference championship game Dec. 4, was named BGSU’s
senior student-athlete of the year in 2002. The previous year, he was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership
honor society.
