Experience college life at Presidents’ Day open house

BOWLING GREEN, O.— High school juniors and seniors interested in attending Bowling Green State University are invited to spend a day experiencing college life on Monday, Feb. 18, when BGSU hosts its seventh annual Presidents’ Day open house.

“The only true way to know if a college or university is the right school for a student is to visit the campus,” said David Rice, assistant director of admissions.

“Presidents’ Day gives both the student and parents the opportunity to see BGSU doing what it does best—educating students. Students and their families can sit in on classes, eat in campus dining centers and visit residence hall rooms as well as meet with University faculty, staff and students,” he said.

More than 6,000 visitors came to BGSU during last year’s event. Nearly 6,500 high school juniors and seniors as well as parents and friends are expected this year.

Students already admitted to BGSU are especially encouraged to visit so they may ask any last-minute questions, meet with faculty and preview residence halls before making a decision on a housing preference.

Beginning at 9 a.m. in Anderson Arena, students can visit a display area with booths representing college offices and more than 40 student service areas on campus, including admissions, financial aid and housing. The display area will be open until 4 p.m. Faculty, staff, and students will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions about academics and student life.

Prospective students will be able to participate in a variety of activities to suit their interests. Academic departments, residence halls and classrooms will be open throughout the day for visits, and 45-minute guided campus tours will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow students a closer look at campus life.

In addition, the offices of Admissions, Residence Life, Student Financial Aid and the University Honors Program will conduct informational presentations.

A shuttle service will be available to take prospective students and their families to and from the various activities.

Reservations are requested to attend the Presidents’ Day open house and can be made by contacting the Office of Admissions at 1-866-CHOOSEBGSU or by visiting the University’s web site at www.bgsu.edu. (Posted Feb. 11, 2002)
