BGSU wins Crystal Awards

BOWLING GREEN, O.-- Public relations, communications and marketing efforts for Bowling Green State University earned more than a dozen honors, including six top prizes, in this year's Crystal Awards sponsored by the Toledo Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.

The awards recognize northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan communications professionals for excellence in photography, writing, television, design, advertising, public relations, non-profit public relations, audio visuals and the World Wide Web.

BGSU Magazine / Spring 2001

BGSU Magazine, produced by the University's Office of Marketing and Communications, won Crystal Awards in both the design and public relations magazine categories. The BGSU Foundation Annual Report earned the Crystal Award in the non-profit public relations annual report category, and BGSU's "Get the Big Picture" multicultural publication won the Crystal Award in the special purpose public relations publication category. A Crystal Award went to a black and white photograph titled "The Graduate" by Craig Bell of the Office of Marketing & Communications.

In addition, Awards of Merit went to "The Triumphant Spirit" project, a photography exhibition and related activities, in the non-profit public relations event category, and to an informational publication titled "Partnering Knowledge and Industry," in the special purpose publication category.

Communicà, a Toledo marketing, advertising, design firm garnered three awards for work produced on behalf of BGSU's Office of Marketing and Communications: a Crystal Award in the total advertising campaign category for the BGSU Presidents' Day Campaign, and Awards of Merit for the BGSU Presidents' Day billboard and BGSU Presidents' Day television advertisement.

BGSU efforts were also recognized with three other awards. WBGU-TV earned a Crystal Award in the public affairs documentary television category for "Let Their Voices Be Heard," and an Award of Merit in the feature series television category for "News Six."

In the student media category, Joan Bishop of Unigraphics, an on-campus publication service, won an Award of Merit for "The McMaster Endowment Brochure." The brochure featured photography by Bell and Brad Phalin of the BGSU Office of Marketing and Communications. (Posted: 11/28/2001)
