Classroom technology will be showcased at a special event
from 5-7 p.m. today (April 30) in 101 Olscamp Hall.
The "Classroom Technology Showcase" is sponsored by BGSUs
Project PICT (Pre-service Infusion of Computer Technology),
a three-year, $1.5 million grant funded by the U.S. Dept.
of Education. The goal of Project PICT is to help pre-service
teachers at BGSU fully utilize modern technology for improved
learning and achievement in their classrooms.
The event will feature the current work of Project PICT
participants, including area classroom teachers, BGSU
student teachers and faculty members. Among the items
to be showcased are technology-enhanced lesson plans and
samples of student work from both University and K-6 classrooms.
All work displayed will reflect the successful integration
of technology into the K-6 classroom.
One activity Project PICT participants have been involved
in during the current academic year is the restructuring
of teacher preparation curricula to meet National Technology
Teachers Standards. That process has involved intense
collaboration between BGSU faculty, K-6 teachers and pre-service
teachers, as well as a number of technology training sessions
for participants at all levels.
