CSCL Board honored along with
BGSU authors and artists
Ninety-four BGSU faculty and staff authors
and artists were recognized for their accomplishments
at the annual Authors and Artists Reception, hosted
by the Friends of the University Libraries on Nov. 10
in Jerome Library.
Also at the reception, the Cooperative Services for
Children’s Literature (CSCL) Board of Trustees
was awarded the 2004 Friends Award for its outstanding
contributions to the growth and development of the University
Libraries, particularly the Curriculum Resource Center.
CSCL is a group of volunteer teachers, librarians and
faculty members who have an interest in children’s
literature. The board works with publishers to provide
free children’s books for the Curriculum Resource
Center at the library.
The donated books are on display on the second floor
of the library.
Executive Vice President Linda Dobb, former dean of
the University Libraries and a board member since 1995,
presented the Friends Award to three members of the
board.
“It is because of the wonderful Cooperative Services
volunteers that we have such a great (book) collection
at our library,” said Dobb.
The 14 members of CSCL not only provide the library
with books, but also are involved in planning an annual
children’s book conference.
The Friends Award is an external award given annually
by the Friends of the University Libraries, Archives
and Special Collections to honor a person or institution
that has contributed substantially to the growth and
development of the campus libraries and learning resources.
Friends of the University Libraries is a membership-based
organization that supports, through contributions and
volunteers, the programs and activities of the BGSU
Libraries, Archives and Special Collections.
