Casting
call slated for ‘Children of Eden'
The Department of Theatre and Film
will hold open auditions for the 2005 spring musical
production of Stephen Schwartz’s “Children
of Eden.” Separate auditions will be held for
children and adults.
The casting call for community children will be held
from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in 405 University Hall.
Participants should arrive 30 minutes before audition
time to register. Those trying out will be taught a
portion of a song from the show for the audition. Call-backs
will be held that evening, so it is highly encouraged
that children have the entire time available. Additional
call-backs, if needed, may be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Nov. 30 in the same location.
Auditions for students, faculty, staff and adult community
members will be held by appointment only from 6:30-10
p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 in 405 University Hall. Sign-up sheets
for auditions, as well as room locations and audition
requirements, will be posted on the bulletin board across
from the offices of the Department of Theatre and Film
in 338 South Hall. To audition, prepare 16 bars of a
song that showcases voice and range. It is permissible
to sing songs from the show. An accompanist will be
provided for all auditions. Scripts, call-back music
and CD recordings are available for 24-hour check-out
Monday through Friday in the department office.
Call-backs for adults will be held from 6:30-10 p.m.
Dec. 8 on the fourth floor of University Hall. Those
participating will need to check the call board, also
located across from the theatre and film office, for
call-back audition times, as well as song and reading
requirements.
“Children of Eden,” directed by Michael
Ellison, theatre and film, with musical direction by
Shaun Moorman and Larry Dutt, will be presented in the
Eva Marie Saint Theatre at 8 p.m. on April 8, 9, 15
and 16 and 2 p.m. on April 10 and 17.
The Department of Theatre and Film practices the principle
of equal opportunity. Except in plays where race, ethnicity,
or sex is an issue, casting is decided on the basis
of ability.
