Cruz, Christensen appointed
to School Readiness Solutions Group
Dr. Josué Cruz Jr., dean of
the College of Education and Human Development, and
Kimberly Christensen, lecturer in the School of Intervention
Services, have been appointed to the state Board of
Education’s School Readiness Solutions Group.
The newly formed group, led by honorary federal chair
Sen. George Voinovich, is charged with helping the state’s
leaders rethink the rules, roles and relationships that
define Ohio’s early-learning services and opportunities
for children from birth to age 6.
The School Readiness Solutions Group’s directive
is to provide recommendations for policy changes and
action–in both the public and private sectors–that
will lead to the development of a coherent, effective
system of early learning that improves school readiness
and promotes children’s long-term academic success.
The group’s final report for the Ohio Board of
Education, governor and members of the Ohio General
Assembly will be completed in June 2006.
