Wooster Street update for the week of April 26

Work on East Wooster Street will continue between the Interstate 75 interchange and the CSX Railroad tracks the week of April 26. Also, work has begun on Mercer Road between East Poe Road and East Wooster Street. The contractor will be working Monday-Thursday (April 26-29) this week.

Construction on East Wooster Street

Utility crossover work will continue the length of East Wooster Street. This work will cause traffic delays and lane closures controlled by flaggers in many areas. Delays are expected. Local traffic is encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

The city electric department will be relocating telephone poles on the north side of East Wooster Street from Mercer Road to I-75.

Construction on Mercer Road

The contractor has begun installing a new storm sewer along Mercer Road from East Poe Road to East Wooster Street. The installation is on the west side of the road. It will take about four weeks for this work to be completed. As the installation progresses, updates will be provided to the University community

As was done on East Wooster Street, the contractor is doing pre-trenching of the rock to speed the installation of the sewer line. Currently the schedule for this pre-trenching is:

• Monday, April 26—Trenching from north of Ridge Street into the parking lot east of Kreischer Quadrangle. The lot will be closed to parking Sunday evening (April 25).

• Tuesday, April 27—Trenching across the rest of the Kreischer parking lot.

To accommodate this schedule, Ridge Street will be closed all day Monday (April 26) beginning at about 8 a.m. The parking lot east of Kreischer will be closed from Sunday night (April 25) until roughly 7 p.m. Tuesday (April 27).

All construction schedules are subject to change due to weather and construction-related issues.

Be alert to increased pedestrian traffic and to the movement of construction vehicles. Please drive slowly and carefully through all construction zones. The speed limit on University drives and in all campus parking lots is 15 mph.

Weather permitting, the project will be completed in August 2005. As the contractor provides updated information, it will be sent to the University community by broadcast email. Updates also appear in the Monitor at www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/monitor and at www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/wooster.
