Wooster Street update for the
week of April 12
Beginning Wednesday, April 14, trenching operations
for underground utility installations will cross Wooster
Street at South College Street. Motorists should expect
traffic delays and lane closures in the work zone area.
This operation will continue through the end of
the week, when the trenching operation will continue
south on South College.
Trenching work on South College will continue throughout
the week of April 19. Beginning the week of April 19,
other utility trenching operations will occur on Wooster
Street in various locations between I-75 and Enterprise
Street. Motorists should expect traffic delays and lane
closures in work zone areas.
Weather permitting these construction activities, associated
lane closures and lengthy traffic delays, will continue
through the end of May.
Lot A will be available for parking but motorists should
avoid trying to reach the lot from the west. Drivers
can access the lot from East Wooster Street by using
the Lot D entrance just east of Rodgers Hall. Proceed
through Lot D to the stop sign. After stopping, turn
left and proceed into Lot G, which has access to Lot
A. The one-way drive by East Hall will be used for two-way
traffic, so drivers may exit by the same route they
entered the lot. Two-way directional signs will be posted.
Use extra caution in the area because it is a change
in the traffic pattern.
The University shuttle service will continue to pick
up and drop off passengers at the Centrex Building this
week. Those using the service should plan to catch an
earlier shuttle than normal because traffic pattern
changes will add more time to the route.
The project contractor also plans to begin installing
a new storm sewer along the north side the street near
Harshman Quadrangle this week.
Additional crossover work will be scheduled in the coming
weeks and traffic reduction to one lane will be necessary
at times, with flaggers controlling traffic flow.
Pedestrians should not walk on new concrete sidewalks
roped off with yellow caution tape because the concrete
is not yet hard enough for foot traffic. Using the pathways
before the concrete is completely hard can result in
damage to the sidewalks, the need for repairs and delays
in completion.
All construction schedules are subject to change due
to weather and construction-related issues.
Be alert to increased pedestrian traffic and to the
movement of construction vehicles. The speed limit on
University drives and in all campus parking lots is
15 MPH.
Weather permitting, the project will be completed in
August 2005. As the contractor provides updated information,
it will be sent to the University community by broadcast
email. Updates will also appear in the Monitor at
www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/monitor
and at www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/wooster.
