BGSU to honor Betty Montgomery with Distinguished Alumnus Award

The BGSU Alumni Association will present Ohio Auditor Betty Montgomery the Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of her achievements and for serving as a role model for Ohio women.

Montgomery, a 1970 BGSU graduate, will receive the award March 18 when she delivers the keynote address for Women’s History Month at 7:30 p.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Her address is co-sponsored by the Women’s Center and the Alumni Association.

A loyal and active alumna, Montgomery in 2001 donated $10,000 toward scholarships for women students who are returning to the University. She has been a strong supporter of diversity in higher education and, as state senator, drafted Ohio’s living will and victims’ rights laws.

Montgomery has also served as Perrysburg and Wood County prosecuting attorney and as state attorney general.
