Physical inactivity first topic
in President’s Lecture Series

Steven Blair, president and CEO of the Cooper Institute
in Dallas, will discuss “Physical Inactivity:
The Major Public Health Problem of the 21st Century”
as the first speaker in this year’s President’s
Lecture Series.
Blair’s presentation begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday
(Jan. 12) in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater.
An international advocate for the promotion of physical
health, Blair has focused his research on the associations
between lifestyle and health, with an emphasis on exercise,
physical fitness, body composition and chronic disease.
He will emphasize the shift in thinking needed to alter
trends in an increasing obese population.
“Advocates for Change in the 21st Century: Issues
of Body, Mind and Spirit” is the theme of the
three-part 2005 series.
