The College of Business Administration is among the nation’s best, according to the Princeton Review. In the 2007 edition of the review’s “Best 282 Business Schools,” Bowling Green’s MBA program ranks sixth among schools providing the greatest opportunity for minority students and eighth among schools with the most competitive students.

“We know we have a strong program and serve our diverse student body well, but it’s still nice to know others agree,” said Dr. Rodney Rogers, dean of the College of Business Administration.

The guidebook, published Oct. 3 by Random House, contains descriptions of the nation’s best business schools and ranks the top 10 schools in 11 categories. The publication does not rank schools in a single list or name one business school best overall.

The Princeton Review describes BGSU’s full-time MBA program as an excellent opportunity for students to fast-track their business careers, and notes it has a leadership and development component that guides them “through a process of self-reflection and self-discovery so that each obtains a better understanding of him or herself in relation to a desired management career.”

The ratings are based on surveys over the past three years of 18,000 graduate business students attending the schools profiled, as well as data provided by the institutions. An 80-question survey asked students about themselves, their career plans and their academics, student body and campus life.

In the category of greatest opportunity for minority students, the review considered the percentages of students and faculty from minorities in addition to student assessment of resources for minority students, how supportive the culture is and whether fellow students are ethnically and racially diverse.

The “most competitive students” category was rated on the basis of workload and student perceptions of how competitive their classmates are.

The high caliber of the College of Business Administration has been recognized since 1954 when it first earned accreditation from AACSB International—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Bowling Green is one of only 171 colleges worldwide to have earned AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting.
