'Where Ideas Learn to Fly' exhibit at BGSU's Jerome Library

“Where Ideas Learn to Fly,” a traveling Ohio Early Childhood Education exhibition, is on display now through Oct. 6 at Jerome Library.

The interactive exhibit, displayed on the second floor of the library, illustrates the implementation of Reggio Emilia practices and principles in the classroom. The teaching approach stresses the formation of fundamental relationships between teachers, children and families in an educational setting.

Developed by educators in the town of Reggio Emilia in Italy, the concept was introduced to Ohio's early childhood educators through an exhibit titled “The Hundred Languages of Children.” The educational approach emphasizes early childhood education through projects directed in part by the children, the use of art, music and other media, heavy parental involvement and teachers who also are learners.

Eleven, 4-by-8-feet panels in the traveling exhibit feature interactive elements as well as research.
