'Digital Mirror' gives girls a new look at technology

Research has shown that girls in their middle-school years start losing interest in the role that technology can play in their academic and, eventually, professional lives. But a computer camp at BGSU helped give some of the young teens a different look at digital literacy.

The second annual Digital Mirror Camp, held Aug. 6-9, was divided into two tracks. One was for new campers in grades 6-9 learning to use Web authoring, digital imaging, and video and audio editing to explore how computers help form a digital identity. The second track was for second-year participants continuing to hone their skills by developing Web-based promotional materials for the camp.
