Dr. Janis L. Pallister, Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of romance languages, has been named an “Alumnus of Notable
Achievement" by the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota.
Pallister received her bachelor’s degree cum laude from Minnesota, where she also earned master’s and doctoral degrees. She
taught French at BGSU from 1961 until her retirement in 1985. She is the author of more than 30 books and hundreds of articles
and reviews. In March, she delivered two lectures at the University of Toronto (Mississauga) on francophone women filmmakers.
According to the awarding college, “Alumni of Notable Achievement are people whose accomplishments have brought distinction
to their professions, their communities, and the college. By honoring these persons, the College of Liberal Arts recognizes
and celebrates not only their singular accomplishments but also the collective depth and breadth of their interests, talents,
career paths, and achievements in all sectors of society."
