Former BGSU women's basketball coach Francis C. (Fran) Voll has been appointed to a nine-year term on the University's board
of trustees, Gov. Ted Strickland announced May 31. He replaces Sharon Cook of Columbus, whose term ended this spring.
Voll, of Marion, is in his sixth year as principal of Marion Catholic High School. He is immediate past resource development
chair of the BGSU Alumni Association Board of Directors, ending his term in May.

When he was named BGSU's head women's coach in 1984, he was the most successful girls' high school basketball coach in the
nation, coming from Delphos St. John. He led the Falcons to two undefeated Mid-American Conference seasons, three regular-season
MAC championships, four MAC tournament titles and four trips to the NCAA tournament.
He was the BGSU coach from 1984-91, when he stepped down to become assistant athletic director and Falcon Club director. In
1996, he moved to Central Michigan University as women's basketball coach.
Voll was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame and the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
He received a bachelor's degree in education from BGSU in 1968, and a master's degree, also in education, from St. Francis
College in Fort Wayne, Ind.
