Dr. Fujiya Kawashima, 67, a professor of history and, until last year, director of the Asian Studies Program, died March 5 in Toledo. He had taught at BGSU since 1970. Kawashima was instrumental in developing the Asian Studies Program and two years ago created the Peace Studies Program.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 22 in 228 Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
