Innovative teaching, pioneering research and national leadership make her among the most highly respected voices in higher education

The BGSU Board of Trustees voted unanimously on June 6 to name Dr. Carol A. Cartwright interim president effective July 21. Cartwright, who served as president of Kent State University from 1991-2006, has had a career distinguished by innovative teaching, pioneering research and national leadership. She succeeded Dr. Sidney A. Ribeau, who left BGSU to accept the presidency of Howard University on Aug. 1.

Cartwright has excellent experience in enrollment management, strategic planning and budgeting, a familiarity with Ohio public universities and illustrious higher education experience overall, according to trustee Michael Marsh. “We think we’ve made a good choice for BGSU to lead us in this interim period and as we move into a new era,” he said.
