Are you one of those students that enjoys helping others, and you just wished you could earn some extra cash for doing so? Thursday, April 4th, 2013, the Learning Commons, located on the first floor of the Jerome Library, will be holding a Tutor Fair—open to any BGSU student who might be considering joining the Learning Commons’ tutoring team. There are many advantages to working as a tutor at the Learning Commons. Tutoring allows you the ability to solidify your understanding of a course or a subject. You can put this work experience on your resume demonstrating your ability to explain difficult concepts. Tutors have the opportunity to obtain an international tutoring certification by working at the Learning Commons. And, if all of that wasn’t enough, you can also make some extra cash! Tutors at the Learning Commons provide individual, small group and drop-in tutoring services to assist students in improving academic achievement by reviewing class material, discussing the text, clarify learning problems and working on study skills. Tutors are hired to help students with writing, math and all subject areas. At the Tutor Fair, prospective tutors will have the opportunity to tour the Learning Commons’ facilities, meet the coordinators, fill out an application, and talk to current tutors. You can also fill out an application ahead of time by clicking here. The fair will be held from 10am to 3pm. Students are free to come and go as they please during this time frame. Coordinators will be on hand to answer questions at this time. Students should bring copies of their resume and transcript if interested in applying at the fair. Additionally, there will be dedicated times for tours and question and answer sessions. Below is the schedule: 15 Minute Tours: 10am, 11am, Noon, 1pm, & 2pm For more info please contact the Learning Commons, 419-372-2823.
