The Fifth Year Option offers a flexible curriculum designed for scholars who are unable to complete their academic programs
in eight semesters. Provided that satisfactory academic progress, acceptable grade point average and good standing are maintained,
eligible scholars selected for the Fifth Year Option may receive an additional two semesters of funding. The Fifth Year Option
is not guaranteed; scholars are strongly encouraged to complete their academic programs in a timely manner.
Scholars who apply and are accepted for the Fifth Year Option will represent the President's Leadership Academy in a variety
of capacities. Tasks will vary based upon enrollment status and number of semesters of funding requested.
The Fifth Year Option applies to undergraduate degrees only and is only available for Fall and/or Spring Semesters. Changes
in majors or delays in matriculation due to participation in auxiliary or alternative academic programs (such as GeoJourney,
Study Abroad, the National Student Exchange, the Washington Center, etc.) are not considered as legitimate reasons for seeking
the Fifth Year Option.
