BGSU NCA Accreditation Plan
In summary, BGSU's NCA accreditation activities include preparing
an institutional self-study document, undergoing a site visit
by an NCA consultant-evaluator team and receiving their report,
preparing a response to that report's concerns and suggestions,
receiving NCA's decision concerning the renewal of accreditation,
and responding to any follow-up actions that may be required.
BGSU's NCA Steering Committee oversees all aspects of the accreditation
process. The accreditation co-coordinators provide direction
to all activities on a day-to-basis, including:
- assisting criterion committees with the collection, analysis,
and interpretation of institutional data,
- overseeing completion of the general institutional data
forms for inclusion in the self study report,
- drafting sections of the self-study report that address
compliance with the "General Institutional Requirements"
- generating periodic progress reports on accreditation activities
for the University community and
- developing and updating the accreditation web site,
- developing and maintaining the accreditation resource room,
- overseeing production, proofing, and submission of the final
self-study report,
- planning and implementing all aspects of the site visit,
and
- drafting institutional responses to the accreditation report.
Criterion committees are responsible for:
- collecting, analyzing, and interpreting institutional data
to determine if BGSU has fulfilled NCA criteria 1 through
5,
- submitting relevant materials to the accreditation resource
room for review by the NCA consultant-evaluator team, and
- reporting the outcomes of their analyses in a standardized
format that is agreed upon through consultation with the Steering
Committee.
While each of these groups has defined responsibilities, it
is anticipated that each will make extensive use of existing
university committees and seek advice and assistance from a
wide variety of groups and individuals across campus that are
not formally associated with the process.
