Institutional accreditation is one of the chief means by which
colleges and universities review and improve the quality of
their programs. Accreditation also serves to promote understanding
and credibility with internal and external stakeholders. When
a university is accredited, its students, faculty, staff, potential
students, members of the local community and the public at large
are assured that all aspects of the institution's functions
conform to established standards.
Bowling Green State University has been accredited by the North
Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning
Commission (NCA) continuously since 1916. BGSU was reaccredited
by NCA for ten years in 1993, the maximum period of time possible.
BGSU is currently carrying out a variety of activities in support
of the renewal of that status in 2003.
This web site was designed to share information about BGSU's
NCA accreditation process with members of the University community.
The process leading up to renewal of accreditation is meant
to be as public as possible. Please browse freely, and send
us your views. Updates will be provided
on this site and through the Monitor and other means. You can
click on Feedback to send comments,
or contact either of the NCA accreditation co-coordinators listed
below.
