Writing & Research Groups

Writing Groups

Writing Groups were inaugurated in 1997 to facilitate groups and individuals in their research, publication, and fundraising efforts. Groups bring together between 4 and 10 faculty members from several fields to provide a forum where members' current research and grant proposals may benefit from the attention of likeminded scholars. The groups are centered around a broad theme or function to foster interdisciplinary work and collegial relationships across disciplines. Group activities include reviewing essays and articles written by members, preparing individual and group grant proposals for external and internal funding, and creating new frameworks for assessing texts within a given field.

Interdisciplinary Research Cluster Groups

Interdisciplinary Research Clusters were inaugurated in February 2000 to promote and enrich intellectual community at BGSU. Clusters bring together between 5 and 12 faculty and graduate students from several fields to investigate topics related to their own research. The clusters are grouped around a broad theme to foster interdisciplinary work and collaboration across disciplines. Besides ongoing research seminars and publication, cluster activities include workshops, symposia, conferences, and guest scholars at BGSU, as well as web sites and presentations at national conferences.
