The Humanities Troupe offers discussion-generating performances on various categories of diversity:
- Race/Ethinicity
- Gender/Transgender
- Sexual Orientation
- Religious Beliefs
- Age/Generation Gap
- Ability/Disability
- Socioeconomic Status
- Body Image
"Label Me" An audience interactive performance. "Label Me" offers audiences a chance to discuss stereotypes and assumptions and how they
impact communication.
"Changing Channels" "Changing Channels" takes a sneak peek at an everyday BGSU student couple as they deconstruct sexist messages broadcast on
their dorm television. Through a sketch-comedy style of parody presentation, The Humanities Troupe examines the dangers of
both male and female sexist behavior.
"The Falcon Zone" "The Falcon Zone" was created off of "The Five Ring Diversity Circus" and recalls the famous ableism obstacle course. This
script also offers a look at body image, religions, and breaking down communication barriers created by assumptions, stereotypes,
and choices.
"The Ability Zone" Jack and Jill must make their way through a game show while dealing with the unfamiliar grounds of abelism.
"Religious? FUNdamentals" Officemates navigate the tricky grounds of religion and faith, and the misconceptions often associated with dealing with others.
"The Othello Problem" Three students from very different backgrounds reach out to each other as they share the fears and loneliness that come with
racial and cultural individuality.
"RE-Images of the Body" This piece offer varying opinions on how the body is viewed through the eyes of others, the media and ourselves.
"Questions of Diversity" "Questions of Diversity" is an adjustable combination performance which can include pieces on various issues including body
image, sexism, abelism, ageism, religion, socioeconomic status, gender and transgender issues, LGBT issues and racism, depending
on your needs.
All of our performances are accompanied by Discussion Guides to help aide in facilitation after performances, as well as feedback
guides so that we may continually evaluate our work to help us grow as we connect with the BGSU community.
The Humanities Troupe meets in the Spring as a class. While this time is the ideal for performances, if given advance notice
we may be able to accommodate other times as well.
