Current Occupation: Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics at The University of South Carolina
Other Occupations: one of the foremost experts in educational uses of Maple, a computer algebra system- author of several books and websites on the use of Maple in Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra
Significant Accomplishments: - saw Barry Bonds break the HR record in person (my children collected 3 balls during batting practice that day and we were in the section where HR #756 landed, just 20 rows further back )
Interests and Hobbies: - active in my church- involved with Boy and Cub Scouts - enjoy many outdoor activities, including bicycling, adventure races, scuba diving, rock climbing, canoeing, backpacking
- like to travel around SC, throughout the US, and across the world
Fond Memories of BGSU Honors: After almost 25 years, some of the details of my memories have faded. I remember helping with the painting of the Honors Lounge(?) in the basement of one of the dorms. Was able to make two trips to the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario.
Impact of BGSU Honors Program on your life: The close interaction with faculty at BG helped push me to complete a double major and to continue to graduate school. Without their encouragement I doubt I would have given any thought to further schooling. Without this influence, my life would be totally different today. I hope I can be a similar positive influence on some of the students I come into contact with at USC.
