Kirsten C. Kunkle, BGSU class of 2002, recently completed her doctoral studies in voice performance at the University of Michigan. Her dissertation involved commissioning and premiering new art songs and chamber music based upon the poetry of her great-great-great uncle, Native American (Muscogee) bard, Alex Posey. These works, including one of her own compositions, have since been obtained by the Merkel Area Museum in Merkel, Texas and the National Museum of the American Indian at the Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Kunkle is actively performing in the northwest Ohio region. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Youngstown State University and Terra State Community College, where she also serves as the Director of Multicultural Arts Initiative.
