The Honors Program staff is dedicated to working with your student toward his/her academic goals. Our staff recognizes each student is unique and has different needs. Our staff will work one-on-one to help your student find the courses that will help them reach their goal.

The Honors Program staff is also available to provide support for those students who are undecided about their major. Having worked extensively with Honors students, we understand that many times students are undecided because they are so talented in numerous areas and have trouble narrowing their options. We work with these students individually to discuss which possible areas of study would best fit their interests and career goals.

Also, in relation to career options and goals, our intention is to work closely with students to help them think beyond their academic career at BGSU. We try to meet each student where they are at and help them develop a plan for both their career and their life.

The Honors Program staff also recognizes that some Honors courses can be particularly demanding for some. Although Honors classes are intentionally created to challenge students, we also want to ensure that each and every student can learn to meet these challenges and achieve success. We work with these students to provide them with the resources needed, whether this is a mentor or study aid.

Critical Thinking Labs

Critical Thinking Labs are one way that you can encourage your student to receive out of class support. This lab is headed by Honors upperclassmen who have successfully completed HNRS 201 and A&S 250H. The lab is located in the Honors Learning Community and is open for a total of 24 hours during the week.
