Linda S. Dobb is the Executive Vice President of Bowling Green State University (BGSU), responsible for Office of the Chief
Information Officer, University Libraries, Office of Equity & Diversity, the University's public television station (WBGU-PBS),
Northwest Ohio Educational Technology (NWOET) and Human Resources. She is also the Secretary to the BGSU Board of Trustees.
She served from June 1999-May 2000 as the Interim Provost at BGSU and from July 1995-May 1999 as its Dean of University Libraries.
Prior to her tenure at Bowling Green State University, Linda Dobb was the Assistant Director of the Library and Chair of the
Academic Computing Council at San Francisco State University. She has also held positions at the City College of San Francisco,
the Government Printing Office, the Library of Congress, and the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
She has taught Library Science for Kent State University, the University of California Berkeley Extension Program, and San
Jose State University.
Ms. Dobb's degrees are from the University of California, Berkeley (B.A.), Simmons College (M.L.S.), and the University of
California's Hastings College of the Law (J.D.). She is a frequent speaker and writer on issues relating to library management,
copyright, fundraising, and technology. Her most recent presentations have been at the American Library Association Annual
Convention and the LOEX Conference, but she has also delivered papers to the Association of Telecommunications Professionals
in Higher Education, the directors of the Max Planck Society (Munich, Germany), and the Association of College and Research
Libraries. Her most recent articles have appeared in Library Trends ("Retreats as a Response to Change") and the Bottom Line
("In-Sourcing"). She has received grants from the U.S. Department of Education, the Ohio Board of Regents, the Department
of Defense, the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE), and from various private foundations and individuals.
Among Ms. Dobb's significant accomplishments at BGSU have been the refurbishment of the Jerome Library building, the establishment
of an electronic reading room and an alumni Wall of Fame, bringing an accredited master's degree program in Library Science
to Northwest Ohio, facilitating online access to the Hayes Presidential Center Library Collection, the MyBGSU web portal,
computer assistance for retirees, the Student Technology Center and reinvigorating BGSU's own system of faculty awards. Within
the Bowling Green community, Linda Dobb has been active as a member of the Noon Kiwanis, the local chapter of the American
Association of University Women, a volunteer at the public television station, and in community theater. Within her profession,
she serves on several committees of the American Library Association and she was President of the Library Administration and
Management Association in 2002 - 2003.
