PURPOSE

Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship Program (STARS) is an undergraduate program designed to prepare high-achieving underrepresented minority students for graduate school, and ultimately, to become professors, preferably at an Ohio college or university. The program aims to enlarge the pool of underrepresented minority graduate faculty. STARS alumni serve as role models for minority students and encourage more of these students to pursue and successfully participate in post-secondary education.

MISSION

The Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship (STARS) program, sponsored by the Ohio Board of Regents is a statewide cooperative venture in Ohio to increase the pool of underrepresented students entering Ohio's graduate schools. The program is designed to identify the best undergraduate students and groom them for graduate school and ultimately for academic careers. The program targets African-American, Hispanic and Native American students who are underrepresented in their fields of study.
