Bowling Green State University
If you're participating in the BGSU Laptop Program and your laptop isn't functioning properly, there are a few "lines of defense" designed to help. Keep in mind, though, BGSU is not responsible for any personal files you have on your laptop. It is up to you to make back-ups of any important papers, projects, presentations, or similar files. Follow the steps below, in order, and your problems will more than likely be resolved.
Bring the laptop into StudentTech
If your laptop doesn't appear to be working properly, it is most likely a minor software conflict. In most cases it can easily be taken care of. Just take your laptop into StudentTech. We'll try our best to get your laptop back up and running again. In the off-chance we can't, we'll move to the next step.
If the problem persists, bring it to the Technology Support Center
Since these laptops are University property, each has been inventoried in an ITS database. If the problem is one we aren't able to solve, we may recommend you take the laptop to the Technology Support Center in 110 Hayes Hall. From there, a "case ticket" will be created by using information specific to your laptop, from the database. You will probably need to leave the laptop with them while they diagnose it. They may be able to solve the problem quickly. If not, they will go to the next step.
Repairing your laptop
The Technology Support Center will check-in the laptop with Hardware Support. From there, technicians will determine if the laptop can be fixed here at BGSU. They will also determine if the problem was a likely result of neglect. If it is found that the laptop was damaged due to neglect or misuse, the cost of repair will be charged to your Bursar account.
