Beginning with the Fall 2009 semester, students will have the benefit of Progress Reporting from two additional initiatives:  Early Alert and Mid-Term Grading

This early feedback to students is critical to student success.

• Connects students to the course
• Offers time for students to adjust their approach to the coursework
• Provides advisors and faculty members with early progress indicators
• Allows time for intrusive interventions to be effective

Reporting rosters will be available for all students, in all classes and it is highly recommended that instructors utilize this process in order to have the highest impact on student success.

Early Alert

Early Alert provides students with feedback from their instructors about their 

• classroom attendance and 
• class performance 
• within the first 3 to 5 weeks of each semester

The program is designed to alert students if they have missed 2 or more classes and/or are receiving a D or lower grade within the first 5 weeks of the semester.  

This Early Alert roster will be available to instructors via Faculty Center from the beginning of the third week of classes through the end of the fifth week of classes.  Students will have access to view Early Alert information via Student Center for their own classes each term.

For the Fall 2009 semester Early Alert submission dates will be Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 25.

Mid-Term Grading

The use of mid-term grades will allow instructors to post mid-term grades to state the students' standing half way through a class.  Instructors will be provided on-line mid-term grade rosters through Faculty Center.  Instructors will be able to post mid-term grades beginning the sixth week of classes through the eighth week of classes.  Students will be able to view their mid-term grades through the Student Center.

For the Fall 2009 semester Mid-Term Grade submission dates will be Monday, September 28 through Sunday, October 18.

Demonstration of Early Alert and Mid-Term Grading Process

A demonstration of the Early Alert and Mid-Term Grading Process will be provided on:

• Wednesday, September 2 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • 107 Olscamp / 1011 Cedar Point Center

• Thursday, September 3 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • 113 Olscamp / 1003/1004 Cedar Point Center

All interested faculty and staff are invited to attend.
