Billing Vendor Selected
The vendor selection team has completed an extensive review of the vendor proposals received in response to the RFP for Telecommunication
Billing Software. Pinnacle has been selected as the vendor for BGSU's telephone billing system. Implementation will proceed
with the project scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2003.
System Setup
During March some Implementation Project Team members attended initial Pinnacle training classes. In addition, the Pinnacle
servers, Oracle database, web application, and call collection device were installed.
Implementation and Testing Since April, the Implementation Project Team has been extracting data from the former telephone billing system (TELCO) and
has been importing the data to the test Pinnacle system in preparation for a parallel test between Pinnacle and TELCO.
Some System Features The implementation of this new system reintroduces the handling of student telephone billing by ITS. For the past several
years, student telephone billing has been handled by an outside vendor.
The system will provide new services such as:
- Immediate call rating for current unbilled long-distance calls
- Online web access to personal telephone bills for current and historical months
- Online web access allowing budget administrators to view departmental telephone bills for current and historical months. Access
will include drill-down capabilities to individual phone charges within an agency/org.
- Online request for BG Call Card via the web portal (note: BG Call Cards no longer available - 2007)
BG Call Card numbers to be converted from 7 digits to 9 digits on December 1, 2003 Effective December 1, 2003 at 7:00 a.m., BG call card numbers used for placing long distance calls will be converted from
7 digits to 9 digits. Anyone who currently uses a BG Call card and has not received instructions on how to convert the call
card number from 7 digits to 9 digits should contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999, tsc@bgnet.bgsu.edu for
details.
