The Technology Education Consulting Specialists (TECS) program provides classroom technology support for BGSU faculty. BGSU faculty are teamed with TECS students who assist in the development and implementation of technology in the classroom and in course materials enhancement.

TECS projects may include (but are not limited to) website development, presentation assistance, in-class technology implementation, and curriculum enhancement.

TECS projects are one semester in length and are awarded in the fall and spring semesters. TECS student teams usually consist of one undergraduate and one graduate student, although additional students may be assigned depending on the complexity of the project.

TECS started in Fall 2002 with three (3) faculty projects and has expanded to seven (7) projects for Spring, 2003.

The following comments have been received from those involved in the TECS program:

Dr. Cynthia Baron, Theatre Department, who participated in a TECS project with her Theatre 395 "Junior Film Seminar" class during Fall 2002 wrote, "....I became especially impressed with how both Valerie and Punit (TECS participants) took on responsibility. They designed an elegant and efficient class web site and insured that the material created by students would fit the server space allotted to the course. Valerie and Punit also worked with students individually so that their text and video material was the best quality possible."

Dr. Andrew Hershberger, School of Art, who participated in a TECS project with his "Art of the Early 20th Century" class during Fall 2002 wrote, "....it has been a delightful experience to work with the TECS on a wide variety of projects. Indeed, it would not be a stretch for me to say that the TECS have helped me implement and have taught me a lot about new technologies that are available for classroom use. The benefits spill over into my other courses as well."

Kelly Mayo, TECS student, "I feel that I gained new skills and learned about myself from my involvement with this group....I know from talking with the students in the class that they did utilize the Blackboard site and they really appreciated the articles and overheads being online for their review."
