Changing Your Pay Frequency
You will need to choose your pay schedule at the start of each academic year. You may choose a nine- or twelve-month pay schedule,
for which you will receive one payment each month. You may change your pay schedule from one academic year to the next; however,
your choice will remain in effect for the duration of the academic year.
-
Printed Paychecks and Stubs Will Show "Hours and Earnings"
PeopleSoft includes an "Hours and Earnings" box that lists system default standard hours on all paychecks and stubs, regardless
of the applicability of that information. If you are a salaried employee, you may disregard this information, which will
have no effect on your earnings.

Sick Leave Payout at Retirement
If you have been employed at BGSU for ten or more years, you can elect a cash payment of one-fourth of your accrued but unused
sick time (up to thirty days) at retirement. Pending approval at the June 2005 BGSU Board of Trustees meeting, the following
changes will take effect. If you plan to retire in 2006, you may choose to receive a lump sum payment for your sick time,
or you may evenly divide your payments over two or three years. If you plan to retire in 2007, you may choose a lump sum or
evenly divided payments over two years. If you plan to retire in 2008 or later, your payment will be made as a lump sum. Regardless
of your planned year of retirement, if you do not want a cash payment for your accrued but unused sick time, you may alternately
elect to defer that compensation by enrolling in a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity or a 457 plan.

Benefit Deductions for Faculty on Ten-Month Contracts
In some cases, faculty members work on ten-month contracts, instead of the more customary nine- or twelve-month contracts.
If you are a faculty member working on a ten-month contract, your benefits are currently deducted evenly over those ten months.
Beginning in 2006, although you will continue to work on a ten-month schedule, your benefit deductions will be taken evenly
on a nine-month, September through May, schedule. Consequently, you will see an increase in the amount deducted from each
of those nine paychecks, and you will receive one paycheck from which no deductions have been taken.
