Original Four Year Plan by Classroom and Year

Technology is an integral part of everyday life throughout the campus community. A plan to equip and systematically upgrade the technology available in instructional classrooms across campus is in process of being implemented.

The Classroom Technology Working Group has developed a four-year replacement plan for classroom technology equipment. The plan calls for each newly installed or upgraded "master" classroom to include a minimum of the following permanent equipment:

Computer
Data/video projector
DVSS Set-top Box (STB)
Document camera
VHS/DVD player*    **
Projection screen
Sound equipment
Technology equipment cabinet (locking)
"Smart pad" remote technology control module

*VHS/DVD players installed in 2004/2005 and after will play PAL (European) and NTSC (USA) formatted tapes and DVDs

**As of Summer 2005 all DVD/VCR machines will be NTSC only - we have been unsuccessful in finding the multi format units, one will be added to a room from stock if requested and available.

After the initial four year cycle, this plan will provide 169 classrooms equipped with the minimum standard technology equipment listed above. These "master" classrooms will represent more than 75 percent of the classroom pool scheduled through Registration and Records

The first phase of the project was implemented between July 1, 2003 and June 30, 2004 and the 2004-05 phase has been completed. The 2005-2006 phase is currently being implemented. The four year cycle will allow the identified classrooms to be upgraded on a consistent basis.

A training session providing instruction on the use of the technology available in a technology equipped classroom will be offered on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. and Thursday, January 5, 2006 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in 225 Olscamp Hall. Registration is not required. Contact Julie Baker at 2-7414 with any questions regarding this training session.
