BGNet Email and SPAM Filtering

For many email users, the number of SPAM messages received are a source of inconvenience, frustration and a means of lowering productivity levels. Classroom Technology Working Group

Data Warehouse  

The Data Warehouse (DW) Project is an ongoing initiative focused on creating a single, integrated, secured source of high quality data designed to support the University's business intelligence (BI) requirements - i.e. reporting and analytics.  Over the life of this project, development of the data warehouse is expected to contribute to the University's planning and decision making capabilities and its distinctiveness in the higher education marketplace.  [  read more  ]

 

Enterprise Portal - Campus EAI

The CIO's office has been awarded a $1,087,450 five-year grant from CampusEAI for portal software and services to implement Enterprise Portal Integration. [  read more ]

 

e-Time for Students  

[implemented Spring 2003]
A Web-based system created by a Massachusetts company called Kronos Inc. is the time sheet system used by student employees for reporting their time worked. [  read more ]

 

Exchange Project  

[implemented in 2008]
The Exchange project will transition account holders from the current BGNet based email system to a new Microsoft Exchange based email system during the first half of 2008.  Once transitioned to Exchange, Windows users can gain access to their email and calendar using Microsoft Outlook 2007 and Macintosh users can use Entourage 2004.  Users will also have access to email and calendars through the Outlook Web Access (OWA) webmail based client provided by Microsoft as well as [ read more ]

  

Internet2  

Internet2 is a consortium being led by over 200 U.S. universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow's Internet. The Internet2 Steering Committee will provide leadership and guidance with regard to BGSU's Internet2 participation. Education and communication are seen as important aspects of that leadership.  [  read more ]

Telephone Billing

A telephone billing system from Pinnacle has been implemented. The December 2003 telephone bills for departments and those using personal/student BG Call Cards have been generated using this system and are available for review via the web.  [  read more ]


TECS  

[implemented 2002]
The Technology Education Consulting Specialists (TECS) program provides classroom technology support for BGSU faculty. BGSU faculty are teamed with TECS students who assist in the development and implementation of technology in the classroom and in course materials enhancement.  [  read more ]


Web Development  

[unveiled September 2003]
A new design for BGSU's Web site was unveiled on September 23, 2003. The University Home page and pages for the Office of the President, Executive Vice President, Office of the CIO, Faculty Senate, University Calendar, Events, News and News Archives, University Landing Page and Learning Communities are pages that feature the new design.

In conjunction with the new design, the University introduced the Rhythmyx content management system to more effectively manage content and provide a consistent look and feel for BGSU's Web site.
