Quick Reference for Submitting Grades

 


Beginning with the submission of Summer 2009 grades, all grades will be submitted and processed using Campus Solutions (CSS).  Faculty have two options for submitting grades:

 

Submission of grades using Faculty Center

  • Quick Reference instructions for grade submission:
    • Go to Faculty Center and select the Grade Roster button to the left of the class
    • Go to the Grade Roster column to enter grades by using the pull down grade selection option for each student
    • Select Save
    • Navigate to the Approval Status menu and change the status to Approved
    • A button entitled Post will now appear below the listing of students
    • To post final grades, select "Post"
    • Grades are now entered into Official Grades column and Posted appears in the column on the far right column
    • The grades have now been officially posted
    • Logout of MyBGSU
  • Training Tutorial - Submission of grades using Faculty Center 
    • The training tutorial may be accessed on a Windows machine using Internet Explorer 6.0 / 7.0 or Firefox 2.0 or on a Macintosh machine using Firefox 2.0.

Submission of grades via Blackboard

  • For faculty members who use Blackboard, the option to submit final grades via Blackboard is available.  
  • Faculty members that submit grades via Blackboard are reminded that they will need to log in to Faculty Center in MyBGSU in order to Post the grades for processing.
  • Quick Reference instructions for grade submission:
    • In Blackboard, go to the Control Panel page for the course
    • Under Assessment, select Grade Center
    • Post the appropriate grades in the CSS Final Grade Column
      • the actual grade values are determined by the grading established for the course in the course catalog
      • for courses graded A through F, grades of A, B, C, D, F, INC (Incomplete), NGR (No Grade Recorded), and WF (Withdraw Failing) are used
      • for courses graded S/U the appropriate grades are S, U, INC, NGR, and WF
      • you will be asked to select OK after each entry
    • When a grade has been entered for every student, select OK in the bottom right hand corner of the page 
    • You will see the Control Panel section where you will select the CSS Faculty Center link to be taken directly to the Faculty Center to complete the interface process
    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Get CSS Final Grade from Blackboard"
    • Review the messages received from the interface for errors
      • you may correct errors directly on the grade roster or
      • you may return to your course shell to make corrections and run the interface process again
      • several potential error messages are documented here  
      • Please note, you may not add student enrollments to your course shell and post final grades for those students using the interface.  The student will need to contact their college office to have the course added to their schedule and a grade will need to be reported separately from the Grade Roster when this occurs.
    • Once finished, grades will appear in the Roster Grades Column
    • Select Save
    • Navigate to the Approval Status menu and change the status to Approved
    • A button entitled Post will now appear below the listing of students
    • To post final grades, select "Post"
    • Grades are now entered into Official Grades column and Posted appears in the column on the far right column
    • The grades have now been officially posted to the student's record and are immediately viewable by the student.  Once grades have been posted, including grades of NGR, a grade change must be processed for each student if a change is needed.
    • Logout of MyBGSU
