Office of the Chief Information Officer
CIO Alert message September 11, 2009

Dear BGSU account holder,

From time to time members of the BGSU community report receiving email messages claiming to be from the BGSU Webmail team, Email Support Team,  BGSU.edu Management, or BGSU Help Desk.  These messages ask the recipient to send data including their BGSU account username and password.

These are phishing email messages and all users are advised to ignore the messages, DO NOT REPLY, and to immediately delete the email message.  Samples of these hoax email messages are available for your review at: http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/cio/page24161.html

At no time will the Office of the CIO, Information Technology Services (ITS) or the Technology Support Center (TSC) ask for your username/password in this form or with an email message.

If you have replied to one of these messages, please immediately change your password using the instructions found at: http://www.bgsu.edu/its/tsc/self-help/page9443.html.  If you need any assistance, please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999.

Sincerely,

Bruce Petryshak
