BG@100
Update - June 2004

Open forums were held on May 18, 20 and 26 to give university employees and students an opportunity to ask questions related to the BG@100 project. A total of 60 people attended these forums. Thank you to all who attended. The questions asked at the open forums are being documented and will soon appear in a new link called FAQ at the top of this page. The next forum is planned for July 22 at 9:00 a.m. in 314 Bowen Thompson Student Union.

The project team has completed the first contracted piece of work with the help of PeopleSoft Consulting. This effort involved comparing the business processes of the PeopleSoft software to BGSU's current business processes. An analysis of the likes and differences in these processes was documented in several reports. These reports, known as "Fit/Gap" reports, encompassed the functional areas of Human Resources, Benefits and Payroll. Also included in this effort was the creation of a project plan to implement PeopleSoft's HCM software. HCM is PeopleSoft's name for the Human Resource, Benefits and Payroll software. The acronym HCM stands for Human Capital Management.

From the project plan it is now possible to estimate the total team effort required to implement HCM. The building of the project team is currently being completed. The role most needed is that of developer. Developers are needed to write technical specifications and code programs for conversion, interfaces, and reports. The plan is to hire term contract employees to fill the developer positions rather than going through a consulting company for these resources. Hiring term contract employees will significantly reduce costs.

Once the project team is fully assembled, the "go live" date for the HCM implementation will be announced. In the mean time, current team members are busy attending training, experimenting and becoming familiar with the test system and developing standards and procedures for the continuous and smooth operation of the team.
