BG@100 CSS Advisory Sessions
BG@100 CSS Advisory Sessions

PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (CSS) will 'Go Live' in a phased implementation beginning in August 2008 and continuing through August 2009.

CSS will replace the University's legacy SIS system as the system of record for student information. CSS is comprised of eight primary modules:  Campus Community, Recruiting and Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Records, Gradebook, Academic Advisement, Student Financials, and Campus Self Service.  In addition RMS (Residential Management System) will be implemented to replace the University's current housing system.  A graphic of the Go-Live schedule is available as well as a more detailed listing of the Go-Live schedule .

The BG@100 CSS Advisory sessions have been established as a means to share information about the changes that will be coming as a part of the BG@100 CSS implementation.  These sessions will provide an overview of the featured topic and will complement the on-line training courses in which all users will participate prior to receiving CSS security access.  The PowerPoint presentations used in these sessions are available for reference following each topic title listed below.

The topics to be presented in these sessions include:

      • Introducing Campus Solutions (CSS)
      • Understanding Academic Structure
      • Campus Solutions:  Learning the Basics
      • Course / Class

      • Understanding Admissions

All who will be using CSS are encouraged to attend these sessions.    Additionally, users may attend other venues where these topics may be covered such as BG @ 100 Open Forums

Registration prior to attendance is not required.  Any user who would like to be added to the BG@100 Advisory listserv in order to receive emails regarding scheduled sessions may request this by an email to: BGat100@bgsu.edu

Introducing Campus Solutions (CSS) - Introducing Campus Solutions (CSS) explains why BGSU is implementing Campus Solutions, lists the key components of CSS and explains how the campus will use CSS.  Some concepts discussed are:

      • General Overview of Campus Solutions
      • Campus Community
      • Campus Solutions Modules
      • Academic Structure
      • PeopleSoft Architecture
      • Basic Navigation

Understanding Academic Structure - In this presentation, the primary components of BGSU's Campus Solutions (CSS) Academic Structure are listed and defined.  At the close of the presentation, the attendee should:

      • Understand the relationship of the components
      • Understand how these components relate to the current Student Information System (SIS) components; and
      • Use the new CSS terminology as it applies to each user's duties

Campus Solutions:  Learning the Basics - This presentation demonstrates how to navigate the basic features of Campus Solutions (CSS) and introduces topics such as Search, Search and Match, Components, Pages, and Data Fields.  Basic CSS terminology is also included.

Course / Class - This presentation provides an overview of the functionality of Student Records and how it integrates with other Student Administration applications.  It is designed to provide the attendee with the look and feel of the Campus Solutions (CSS) application and with new terminology.  Topics discussed include:  how Student Records is structured;  an introduction to Student Records;  Course Catalog; and Schedule of Classes.

Understanding Campus Community - The Campus Community presentation demonstrates how Campus Community is the core of Campus Solutions (CSS) - providing a single source of data that is shared by offices across BGSU.  Attendees will learn about Campus Community as a single database that stores all prospective student, student, alumni, staff, and faculty information.  Points of entry offices such as Admissions, Registration and Records, Student Financial Aid, Graduate College and Human Resources will access Campus Community to maintain this bio-demo data for BGSU.  Also discussed at this presentation will be 3Cs, Service Indicators, and Update My Personal Information Self-Service that will 'go-live' for faculty and staff on September. 22

Understanding Admissions - In this presentation, the following components regarding the Admission module are discussed:

      • What is Admissions?  What does it mean to the University?
      • Statistics, how many applications are processed, how many are admitted?
      • What are the categories of Admissions and what is the process a person goes through before admission to BGSU?
      • A brief summary of the Undergraduate and Graduate Application Systems and the primary interaction with PeopleSoft.
