Update - December 2005
PeopleSoft Financial Management Solutions (FMS) Update
The BG@100 Project Office has completed the formal Fit/Gap sessions for FMS. We would like to thank all the individuals that
participated in the sessions for their contributions and assistance. The team is now reviewing the identified gaps to determine
acceptable alternatives. Additionally, the team is preparing FMS Implementation Scope and Project Plan documents. We look
forward to completing the project planning phase of the FMS implementation during the month of December.
The Chart of Accounts design is underway. The team is working with the Treasurer's Office and Business Office to design an
FMS Chart of Accounts that will meet the University's needs. The design will be published once approvals have been received.
The BG@100 Project team has been engaged in gathering information regarding the many interface systems that generate input
to the University's financial system. The team is researching the potential alternatives for accommodating these requirements
within the PeopleSoft FMS system. Due to the complexities identified in the current interface processes, it is expected that
a substantial effort will be required to engineer a set of solutions that will meet the University's interface needs. The
Project Office thanks the Continuing and Extended Education Office for sharing information regarding their interaction with
the financial system.
The BG@100 Project team kicked off the data mapping sessions for the data conversion process. In data mapping we identify
the FMS required data elements and where we will obtain the information to load these data elements. During the months of
December and January, we will be building the FMS conversion plan based on the results of our data mapping sessions.
The BG@100 Project team is evaluating the financial system reporting requirements. This evaluation process will continue until
the FMS reporting needs are finalized.
PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) Update
The HCM Support Team is assessing the effort required to update the HCM module from version 8.8 to 8.9. The upgrade will likely
occur in the first half of the 2006 calendar year. This upgrade will provide some navigation efficiencies and will set the
ground work for the implementation of Student Administration. The Support Team is assessing the effort required to implement
eBenefit and eRecruitment. The team is also preparing a plan for improving the eContract process.
Student Administration Update
The Project team is on the verge of releasing a Student Administration (Campus Solutions 8.9) sample environment for use by
the primary user offices as they begin orienting staff to this PeopleSoft application. This orientation will allow the staff
to develop an understanding for the application's functionality and capability. The environment will contain PeopleSoft delivered
sample data and will not contain any BGSU configuration. We plan to deliver this environment to the offices over the next
few weeks.
BG@100 Project Office Update
The BG@100 Project team welcomes John Gleason to the Project Office. John is filling the role of FMS functional consultant.
John replaces Jerry Bitter on the project team.
As we come to the end of the 2005 calendar year, the BG@100 Project Office would like to thank all the individuals that have
made contributions toward the success of the project. We send special thanks to the Office of Human Resources and the Payroll
Office for their extra efforts and their support this year.
