Outages Scheduled

The outage of an ITS database server will occur from 12:01 - 4 a.m. Sunday, July 27 in order to complete upgrades. As a result, multiple applications that are dependent on database information will be unavailable, including but not limited to: Production ERP (CSS and FMS), DARS, e-Time for Students, Rhythmyx, CMS, BG1 Card, Xythos, MyFiles, Pinnacle, Onbase, Remedy, Math Placement Test, English Placement Test, Schedule of Classes, Course Catalog information, Change Password, Pyramed, and Digital Assets. Network Outages Scheduled

In order to complete system maintenance, the following outages have been scheduled:

  • From 7 p.m. Monday, July 21 through 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22 network hardware upgrades will result in computers in the Administration Building, Moore Musical Arts Center and OVerman Hall having no communication to other systems either on or off campus.
  • From 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 through 2 a.m. on Thursday, July 24 network hardware upgrades will result in the McFall Center, Physical Sciences, Psychology and Business Administration Building having no communication to other system either on or off campus.

Outages Scheduled

The following outages have been scheduled in order to complete system maintenance.

  • The OnBase document imaging system and the Digital Media Resource Center will be unavailable on Sunday, July 20 from 12:05 - 1:05 a.m. During the time of this outage invoice viewing through PeopleSoft will be unavailable.
  • The Bowen-Thompson Student Union Virtual Calendar available at: ems.bgsu.edu and the BGSU Master calendar available at calendar.bgsu.edu will be unavailable on Sunday, July 20 from 12:05 - 2 a.m.
  • Listserv available at lists.bgsu.edu will be unavailable on Sunday, July 20 from 2 - 3 a.m.
  • On Sunday, July 20 from 12:05 - 6 a.m. Jaws, Quark, AutoCAD and Autodesk, Renderman and SPSS will be unavailable. Also during this time Reserve.bgsu.edu which accesses the BGSU University Libraries E-Reserves will be unavailable.

BG@100 Open Forum - CSS Learning the Basics

The next BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. will feature a presentation entitled "Campus Solutions (CSS)-Learning the Basics".

 

All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum to be introduced to:

     1) how to identify CSS components, pages, and types of data fields;

     2) how to sign in, navigate the main menu, and how to appropriately sign out;

     3) types of basic and advance searches;

     4) how to set user defaults and add to favorites; and

     5) how to search match, search criteria, and search results.

This presentation will provide essential information for all who plan to use and navigate the Campus Solutions (CSS) system. The CSS system will be the student administration system of record that will begin a phased implementation beginning in August. Anyone who will be using the CSS system is encouraged to attend.

 

The open forum is scheduled for one hour and will be held in 314 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Any questions may be directed to BGat100@bgsu.edu and further information about the BG@100 project can be referenced at: www.bgsu.edu/bgat100.

PGP Outage

PGP will be unavailable between 12:01 and 5 a.m. on Friday, June 27 in order to complete system maintenance.  During this time users will not be able to search the keyserver for new keys to encrypt files.  Users will be able to use whole disk encryption (WDE) and will be able to encrypt and decrypt files local to their system.  Please direct any questions regarding this outage to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999, tsc@bgsu.edu.

System Maintenance

Maintenance to the production CSS and FMS Oracle/PeopleSoft applications will be performed between 12:01 and 6 a.m. on Monday, June 16. It is anticipated that there will be no impact on the availability of CSS and FMS applications used in the "back office" as well as CSS applications such as "View My Paycheck", "My Compensation History", and "Manager Information", however some unusual behavior may be seen by users during this time period as system maintenance is performed. BG@100 Open Forum

The June BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, June 5 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union will feature an introduction to the BG@100 Campus Solutions Academic Structure.

Academic Structure is the foundation of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules and their functions. It encompasses the institution's schools and colleges, academic programs and departments, and subject areas. The Academic Structure serves as the basis for the course catalog and schedule, grading scheme, and all related tables that must be created prior to implementation. In the presentation BG@100 project team members will explain the primary components of BGSU's Academic Structure, explain the relationship of these components, and compare these components to the current Student Information System (SIS) components.

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions implementation.

Migration from Meeting Maker to Exchange for calendaring

As a part of the project to migrate BGSU to the Exchange system, the current calendaring software, Meeting Maker will be migrating to Exchange. This migration will occur between May 15 and May 19, 2008. Once completed, Exchange calendaring will be the supported calendaring solution for BGSU. Details about the migration, documentation, and training are available.

An outage of MyBGSU has been scheduled on Monday, May 19 from 2:00 - 6:00 a.m. in order to complete system maintenance. During this outage time access to the MyBGSU portal and MyServices will be unavailable. On Saturday, May 17 from 10 p.m. until Sunday, May 18 at 2 a.m. the mainframe will be unavailable in order to complete an upgrade. As a result, multiple applications may be unavailable, including but not limited to: ePortfolio, DVSS, English and Math Placement Tests.

The production CSS Oracle/PeopleSoft application will be unavailable from 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 through 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 18 in order to perform system maintenance. Network Outages/Upgrades

On Monday, May 12 at 6 p.m. through Tuesday, May 13 at 2 a.m. work to complete a network upgrade will result in an outage for the Field House, Memorial Hall and the Centrex Building. During the time of this outage, network access both on and off campus will be unavailable.

On Wednesday, May 14 at 6 p.m. through Thursday, May 15 at 2 a.m. work to complete a network upgrade will result in an outage for Tech Annex (Airport) and East Hall. During the time of this outage, network access both on and off campus will be unavailable.

The Rhythmyx Web Content Management (CMS) system will be unavailable from 12:01 - 2 a.m. on Monday, May 12 in order to complete system maintenance. Rhythmyx CMS will not be accessible for use in creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference.   • The production FMS Oracle/PeopleSoft application will be unavailable from 10 p.m. Sat, April 5 through 6 a.m. Sun, April 6.
  • On Saturday, April 5 between 12:01 and 1 a.m. there may be brief interruptions in the ability to access the Exchange spam quarantine application available at junkmail.bgsu.edu.
  • On Monday, April 7 from 3-4 a.m. the Rhythmyx Web Content Management (CMS) will be unavailable for creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference.

Outages Scheduled

In order to complete system upgrades, the following outages have been scheduled:

  • Internet connections across the campus network may be unavailable for short period of time between 5 and 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 2. Systems on campus will experience issues connecting to systems on or off campus.
  • MyBGSU (My.bgsu.edu) and Blackboard (eLearning.bgsu.edu) will experience an outage on Monday, March 3 from 3 - 6 a.m. During this time access to MyBGSU, MyServices, and Blackboard will be unavailable.
  • On Monday, March 3 at 6 p.m. thru Tuesday, March 4 at 2 a.m. the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, East Hall, and Centrex will experience a network outage in order to complete network hardware upgrades. During the outage time systems in these buildings will have no communication to other systems either on or off campus.
  • On Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. thru Thursday, March 6 at 2 a.m. South Hall, Moseley, Math Science, Fine Arts, and Memorial Hall will experience a network outage in order to complete network hardware upgrades. During the outage time systems in these buildings will have no communication to other systems either on or off campus.
  • On Friday, March 7 from 12:05 - 1:05 a.m. the survey.bgsu.edu website used by the SNAP survey software will be unavailable.
  • On Friday, March 7 from 11 - 11:30 p.m. ePortfolio will be unavailable.

Tech Trends

The next presentation in the Tech Trends series is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26 at 2:30 p.m. in 206 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In this presentation entitled Vista and Office 2007: Your Gateway to Productivity, DeVaris Brown, Academic Relations Manager for the Heartland Region of Microsoft Corporation will provide an overview of Vista and Office 2007. He will be demonstrating the capabilities of Vista and Office 2007 and the extended functionality and increased productivity provided to users by this software partnership. Further details about this presentation and DeVaris Brown are available at the Tech Trends web page. Vista implementation at BGSU is anticipated to be on a fall 2009 timeline.

ASAC Software Requests

The Academic Software Advisory Committee (ASAC) has established the application process for this year's requests for instructional software. Beginning January 14 and continuing through February 15 at 5 p.m. faculty may complete software requests online. Applications are available at the ASAC web site. This project web page also provides details regarding the project timeline, application process, review criteria and ASAC committee members.

MyBGSU Extended Hours

To provide additional access to online services, MyBGSU will be available for extended hours the weekend prior to the start of spring semester. The extended hours are

  • Sat. Jan 5 - 7:30 am - 7:30 pm
  • Sun Jan 6 - 7:30 am - 11:59 pm
  • Mon Jan 7 - midnight - 9 pm

MyBGSU may be unavailable for up to a 60-minute period beginning at about 5:30 pm. on Sun Jan 6 and for a 30-minute period beginning at 6 am on Sun Jan 7 in order to complete system functions. Applications for "Parking", "Change of Home Address", "My Financial Aid Status" and "Hire a Student Employee" will not be available beyond their normal schedule.

The eTime for Students system will experience an outage on Saturday, January 5 from 6 a.m. to noon in order to complete system maintenance. The web application will be unavailable for use; however, card readers will remain operational.
