The committee reviewed the new web site design elements and was asked for feedback.

Questions and responses included:

Question: Will the complicated web site be downloadable in a reasonable amount of time?
Response: That aspect has not been tested yet. We are viewing a slide of a web site that has not been translated into HTML. This will be taken into account.

Comment: Web site may feature too many photos.
Response: That aspect is changeable. Areas can be customized with pictures or text. Content management will allow flexibility.

Question: Will access to MyBGSU be located on home page web site? If so, current servers to not allow for that kind of access.
Response: An application will have to be written to allow for direct log in to MyBGSU.

Question: Will departments be able to keep some of the color schemes that are already in place?
Answer: Yes, the slide sample shows just a few of the color schemes possible. Marketing & Communications will provide a palette of colors for each section of the site. Current colleges and department marketing vehicles will be kept in mind.

Question: Will Development/Alumni have to use the same content management system as the rest of the University?
Answer: Yes. Departments will have to submit a justification for use of outside vendors that host and hold University information and content to the Web Steering Committee for review. E.g. Athletics is submitting a justification.

Comment: Alumni is very concerned about the new content managements ability of high end possibilities they are planning for their web site.
Response: The new system the University is purchasing should be able to accommodate Alumni.

Comment: The blue used for the sample web site we viewed is not sharp enough. There needs to be a darker contrast. Page design issues - location placement of Quick Links. The color palette will address more of these issues.
