Bowling Green State University
United Way Campaign

Dear Faculty and Staff,

October kicks off the annual United Way and Northwest Ohio Community Shares Campaign at Bowling Green State University.

Both organizations have been hard at work engaging our community and developing solutions for the issues facing our neighbors. With your help and support, we can create more positive change in our community. Your gift aids local organizations in meeting needs and improving Wood County for all residents.

The numbers in our community tell a story. In 2010, 3,130 nights of shelter were provided to victims of domestic violence in Wood County; 1,120 educational home visits were made to at risk youth and their parents in Wood County and 3,500 volunteers were deployed to assist in the Lake Township tornado recover, all because of United Way.

How does this happen? Through the generous contributions of the people in Wood County. You can help make a difference by giving to the United Way Campaign on campus.

Because the needs in our area increased during the past year, your participation in supporting United Way programs is very important. Please consider making a donation at a level you are comfortable with, whether it is a single gift or a donation made through monthly payroll deductions.

At Bowling Green State University, we are proud of our distinction of being an engaged university. This once-a-year request to support United Way and Northwest Ohio Community Shares is your opportunity to sustain our reputation of caring about the communities where we live and work.

I am a longtime advocate for supporting the services provided by United Way organizations. Please join me in helping local families who face economic hardships by making a donation this year to the BGSU United Way/Northwest Ohio Community Shares campaign.

Thank you,
Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
President
